Who Is an Eligible Veteran?

"A person who served in the active military, naval or air services, and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable, or who died in active service,
not as the result of willful misconduct." 38 U.S.C. § 101(2), 38 CFR § 3.1(d) 2006.

What Is a Service Connected Disability?

A service connected disability is a disability that resulted from or was made worse by injuries or diseases that happened while on active duty, active duty for training, or inactive duty training.

How far Back Can Benefits Go?

Generally, VARO awards effective date as date of claim, but there are exceptions.

What Are Total Disability Ratings?

Total disability exists when a person suffers any impairment of mind or body which renders it impossible for the average person to follow a substantially gainful occupation.

What Is the Combined Rating Table?

"The Combined Ratings Table results from the consideration of the efficiency of the individual as affected first by the most disabling condition, then by the less disabling condition, then by other less disabling conditions, if any, in the order of severity." 38 CFR Section 4.25
